B.S.G. RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE YEAR 2024 COMPETITIONS.

ENTRANTS ARE REMINDED THAT COMPETITION ENTRIES MUST BE MADE IN THE NAME OF THE MAKER AND THE MAKER MUST HAVE MADE THE ENTIRE STICK FROM RAW MATERIALS AS DETAILED IN RULE 6 OF THE BSG RULES & REGULATIONS FOR COMPETITIONS

 01 The organizers will take all reasonable precautions to prevent damage to or theft of exhibits during the course of the stick show, but cannot be held responsible for the same.
02 Receipts will be issued for all sticks entered in the show and they can be reclaimed on the production of the said receipt. Anyone losing their receipt will not be able to reclaim their sticks until all other sticks in the show have been reclaimed.
03 NOVICE CLASS  A novice is defined as a competitor who has not previously entered in any stick making competition before January 2022, and is permitted to enter as a Novice for three consecutive competition years. A competition year is defined as a calendar year the 1st of January to the 31st of December.
04 Entries may be entered on the day but must be booked in no later than 12.00 noon.
05 No stick is to be entered bearing the maker’s name or brand mark on any part of the stick.
06 Only sticks entered in the maker’s name will be accepted. A maker is defined as one who has made the stick from raw materials and who formed, shaped, and originates the entire stick. Failure to comply may result in the entrant being disqualified and a written reprimand from the Guild Committee, together with the announcement of such in the Stickmaker.
07 Each stick may be entered in one class only.
08 In the event of less than six stick entries in any one class, the organizer may combine this class with any other class of the same material.
09 The right is reserved by the show organizer or the judge to transfer any entry that is deemed to have been entered in the wrong class.
10 All the Judge’s decisions are final & prizes will be awarded at the Judge’s discretion.
11 Spacers are allowed in all classes.
12 End Caps are allowed in all classes.
13 Sticks may be entered, with or without any type of Ferrule.
14 Multi-Material Heads These will be placed in classes as follows: In the eyes of the steward or the judge the larger proportion of material will decide the class, e.g., a stick with 40% Wood 60% Horn will be placed in the Horn section. A stick with 60% Acrylic 40% wood will be placed in the any other material section.
15 The presentations will be made at approximately 4.00 pm. No stick can be removed until after the presentation. Sticks can only be reclaimed from an elected steward or organizer,” unless the steward permit`s an entrant to collect their own sticks, in which case the entrant must take care not to mistakenly take a stick which is not theirs.”
16 This Only Applies To B.S.G. Shows. Any B.S.G. Member may claim one free ticket to the show by complying with the following conditions. Enter six or more sticks & send the entry fee together with a stamped addressed envelope to the B.S.G. Organizer at least one month before the date of the show.
17 At all B.S.G. Shows, before taking trophies away, winners will have to submit membership numbers & sign to acknowledge that they have received the trophy & will return it carriage paid & in good condition in time for the next show in the following year. Non-members will not be allowed to take away any Trophies.
